CASE STUDY: SMS Polling for SP Brewery

Begining on the 21st of February 2008, Masalai has been running the SMS Polling service for SP Brewery's Ice Zone TV show on EMTV. This involves a series of different questions given in each show and a choice of 4 answers to the question. From the SMS votes a selected number of people texting in are given prizes. What SP was interested in from our service was the potential to gather demographics from the participants. Each participant was asked to send in an answer with their name, age and location. This was important to SP to see what type of particpants were responding to their marketing efforts.

This is not the first time we have run SMS services for SP Brewery. Back in 2005, Masalai was also contracted to provide the SMS Polling service for the Ice Discovered show. In our last operations at that time, between 7.30pm Sunday and 6.00pm Monday, we received 1,995 votes for contestants. This gives you an idea of the potential of this service and also the reach in that we had voters from Wewak, Lae and Mt. Hagen as well as Port Moresby.

In addition it should be noted here that our service runs for both B-Mobile and Digicel phones.
