How much does a website cost?
By Emmanuel Narokobi - 4th March 2006

The first question that a potential client usually asks is, how much does a website cost? It is a fair enough question, however the answer really falls back on what You as the customer wants to do in terms of your information.

So there is no set fee for a website. Costs will always differ according to the requirements you may have for your website. To get a better idea of what you want, when preparing a quote, we usually ask some of the following questions:

  • What do you want to tell people about your company/organisation?
  • Who would be interested in visting your website?
  • Do you have all your website content ready?
  • Do you have photographs/images to use in your website?
  • Will you require regular maintenance of your website?

Coming to us with a clear idea of what you want helps us draw up quotations faster, which leads us to the other equally important issue of money. What is your budget? Obviously this is a touchy subject at times, but in the long run it makes it easier for us to realise your goals within what you can afford.

Another point is that today anyone can build a website. Actually planning and building a website that looks professional, in that it reflects what your company is about offline. Building a site that is easy to maintain. Building a site that can be dynamic, and having real time statistics to assess how your website is being used, is a totally different matter. So yes, we may sometimes cost more than what a mate or friend of a friends may charge you, but in the end you pay for what you get.
